What are you currently working on?
In February 2008, I took over DirectGroup’s corporate communications, which includes all measures of communication concerning the group or its management. This includes topics such as media relations, internal communication (e.g. the regularly published DirectGroup Info Newsletter), event organisation (e.g. DirectGroup’s yearly Management Meeting and the annual reception at the Frankfurt Book Fair together with Random House) and all smaller and larger public relation projects. An important part of my work is to serve as the interface to the Bertelsmann AG communications department in many smaller and larger projects like the Annual Report and events.
How did you end up at DirectGroup? Please give us a short description of your background.
After having completed several journalistic internships during my studies (history/politics in Freiburg plus a year abroad in London), I started to work in the Corporate Communications department of Bertelsmann AG in Gütersloh. There I completed a voluntary service in the íntranet editorial office - a great job for gaining deep insights into this huge company. Afterwards I was given the opportunity to stay on in Corporate Communications and worked on different projects – my last assignment before moving to DirectGroup was handling Issues Management (systematic topics management) and several special projects.
What is your "pet project"?
I’ve had and continue to have many pet projects, because I like my daily work very much. But I really had a great time working on Bertelsmann’s movie about the life of Reinhard Mohn, which we created for his 85th birthday. That was a once-in-a-lifetime project. It was an amazing project and I learned a great deal.
